Cereals and Pulses Exports to 216 Countries, Autonomous and Free Zones

The sector, which exports wheat flour, vegetable oils, biscuit-pasta, sugar and sugar products, recorded the highest export increase in lentils with 115 percent. Cereals and pulses produced in Türkiye were delivered to 216 countries, autonomous regions and free zones.


According to the information compiled from the data of the Southeastern Anatolian Exporters' Associations, the cereals and pulses sector, which exported 9 billion 146 million 823 thousand dollars in 2021, increased its exports by 25.4 percent last year. In this way, representatives of the sector, which provides an input of 11 billion 473 million 748 thousand dollars to the national economy, delivered cereals and pulses products produced in Türkiye to 216 countries, autonomous regions and free zones last year.

The most important market of the sector is Iraq

Turkish cereals and pulses exporters made the highest exports to Iraq with 2 billion 333 million 556 thousand dollars in this period.  Iraq was followed by the USA with 708 million 767 thousand dollars and Syria with 562 million 903 thousand dollars.

Lentil exports increased by 115 percent

In the sector, which exports wheat flour, vegetable oils, biscuits, pastry, sugar and sugar products the most, the exports in lentils attracted attention. Compared to the previous year, exports of lentils increased by 115 percent and 494 million 934 thousand dollars of revenue was obtained.

Ahmet Tiryakioğlu, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Sector Board, stated that exports in their sectors increase every year and the sector makes a significant contribution to the country's economy.

Stating that Turkish products are consumed admiringly in the world, Tiryakioğlu said: "Our sector is vital for life. Agricultural products are needed for healthy nutrition of people. Türkiye plays a role here. The products in Türkiye are both high quality and delicious. With these features, Turkish products are in great demand in the world. This situation is reflected in export figures. The future of our sector is open and we will gradually increase our export figures."
