Crop Production Broke The Record In The History Of The Republic Last Year 

Cotton, sunflower, corn, oats, carrots, garlic and cabbage exceeded all-time production levels - Olive production increased by 71 percent to 3 million tons


Türkiye's crop production reached 128.6 million tons last year, breaking the record in the history of the Republic.

According to the information obtained from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, vegetable production, which was 117.9 million tons in 2021, reached 128.6 million tons last year with an increase of 9.1 percent, breaking a new record in the history of the Republic.

All-time production records were exceeded in cotton, sunflower, corn and oats among field crops.

Cotton production in 2022 was 2.75 million tons with an increase of 22 percent compared to the previous year, imports decreased by 8 percent to 1.15 million tons and exports were 193 thousand tons.

Sunflower production, which was 2.41 million tons in 2021, increased by 6 percent to 2.55 million tons in 2022. Sunflower refined oil exports increased by 29 percent last year to 596 thousand tons.

Corn production increased by 26 percent to 8.5 million tons last year, while oat production increased by 32 percent to 365 thousand tons.

Oat exports increased significantly and reached 470 tons with a 39-fold increase.

Vegetable Production

While vegetable production was 31.6 million tons in 2022, export value was recorded as 861 million dollars. All-time production records were broken for carrots, garlic and cabbage.

While total fruit production was 24.9 million tons in 2021, it reached 26.8 million tons last year with an increase of 7.7 percent, breaking the all-time production record. The amount of exports, which was 4 million 56 thousand tons in 2021, increased by 3 percent to 4 million 171 thousand tons in 2022.

In 2022, the production amounts in fruit types that broke records compared to the previous year are as follows:

"Apple (7 percent) 4.8 million tons, pear (4 percent) 551 thousand tons, quince (3 percent) 197 thousand tons, plum (5 percent) 348 thousand tons, peach-nectarine (13 percent) 1 million tons, strawberry (9 percent) 728 thousand tons, fig (9 percent) 350 thousand tons, mandarin (3 percent) 1, 9 million tons, banana (13 percent) 1 million tons, pomegranate (5 percent) 681 thousand tons, almond (7 percent) 190 thousand tons, walnut (3 percent) 335 thousand tons, olive (71 percent) 3 million tons, olive oil (79 percent) 422 thousand tons, persimmon (27 percent) 97 thousand tons"
