4 Million Cubic Metres Of Water Was Stored In The Araç Dam, Which Will Bring Agricultural Lands Together With Water

It was reported that 4 million cubic metres of water was stored in the Araç Dam, which was completed in Kastamonu and will contribute more than 125 million liras annually to the national economy. Mehmet Akif Balta, General Director of State Hydraulic Works, stated in a written statement that the construction of Araç Dam started on 19 October 2015 after the delivery of the site.


Balta stated that the dam, which was completed on 19 October last year, started to hold water by closing the lids and pointed out that 4 million cubic metres of water has been stored so far.

Emphasising that 33 thousand 180 decares of agricultural land will be irrigated with the water to be stored in the Araç Dam, Balta said, "20 villages and 1 province will be protected from flooding and will provide 13.79 gigawatt hours of energy production with an installed power of 5 megawatts. With the completion of Kastamonu Araç Dam, which has a foundation height of 81.55 metres and a water storage capacity of 44.16 cubic hectometres, it is aimed to contribute 125 million 225 thousand 228 liras annually to the national economy with 2023-unit prices."
